Executive Functioning

At Red Mountain Sedona, our professional team helps our students launch into a productive life. We eschew the phrase “Failure to Launch.” Instead, we prefer the term “Learning to Launch.” Our students engage not only in therapy, mindfulness, and community integration including activities, work and school, but also learn to launch by focusing on executive functioning (learning how to master the tasks of day to day life). We are highly individualized, so this looks very different for a young adult who has lived independently, vs. one who has never lived outside their home. As with all things we do, we meet our students where they are, and help them grow from there. Our case managers and executive functioning coach work with our clinical team to coordinate care and work in both individual and group settings with our students, helping them develop, hone and master the following skills, as applicable:

  • Planning & Prioritizing
  • Organization
  • Task Initiation
  • Time Management
  • Sustained Attention
  • Goal-Oriented Persistence
  • Emotional Control
  • Impulse Control
  • Flexibility
  • Working Memory
  • Metacognition
