Jakob Merchant, MS
Primary Therapist

Jakob has dedicated his life to the relief of suffering in all its forms. This led to an in depth study and practice of psychology, philosophy and spirituality. Among the many degrees and training, Jakob holds a Masters in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University.

Jakob believes in a client centered approach in which he develops a unique therapeutic approach for each individual that is centered in kindness and compassion for them.

Jakob’s main clinical influences are solution-focused. He has a particular passion for family systems therapy including Internal Family Systems (IFS). He strongly believes in including the family in the healing process of each Red Mountain student.
Over the years Jakob has worked with a broad range of clients including different forms of compulsive behavior, family and marriage counseling, anxiety & depression as well as helping clients to reach their highest potential.

Jakob’s love for therapy is only superseded by his love for his family. Raising a family of four children while running a retreat center and nonprofit, he learned experientially what is needed for any child throughout their developmental stages into adulthood. He truly loves being a therapist and feels honored to serve in this capacity at Red Mountain.
