Life Skills Training for Rhode Island Young Adults
Red Mountain Sedona is a Therapeutic Rehabilitation Program offering Life Skills Training and specialized aftercare programs for recovering young adults. We offer fundamental Life Skills Training primarily as an aftercare program for young adults from Rhode Island. Our outlook and philosophies are based on "mindfulness." Red Mountain Sedona hinges on the belief that a mindful, healthy life is more enjoyable and appealing than a life of addictive behavior and internal strife. Our students succeed in the development of essential life skills that will conceivably become a perpetual component in their lives.
We know from experience that developing proper life skills is essential to staying sober. We know of many treatment centers in Rhode Island that do not sufficiently equip young adults with life skills training in this crucial stage. Here at Red Mountain Sedona, we train our students to cook, clean, balance checkbooks, take care of their physical health, apply for jobs, interview for jobs, and many other aspects of behavior and etiquettes for successful adult living.
Our vision is to get our students into their bodies and learn how to follow their thought and behavior patterns. Our practitioners teach this skill through meditation, so that our students are not overwhelmed by habitual anxiety, depression, and cravings. Our trained staff assists our students in the healing from past trauma, grief, loss, and wreckage caused by faulty decision-making.
Specialized Aftercare Programs
This mentoring and instruction is delivered through our specialized programs:
Meditation: We believe daily meditation practice is needed in order to teach addicts how to track their cravings and reduce the risks of relapse.
Yoga: We teach Yoga for a variety of reasons, but primarily because it has long been seen as a key component of physical and mental well-being.
Adventure Therapy: This encourages individuals to become mentally and physically engaged in adventure activities such as ropes courses, rock climbing, wilderness expeditions, and trust building activities.
Nutrition: Many studies have shown that nutrition is a key part of supporting the “addict brain” and staying sober. We help our students to “wake up” to their inherent goodness, focusing on gratitude and solutions.

Life Skills Training Curriculum at Red Mountain Sedona
We encourage and assist with rebuilding damaged relationships with family, loved ones, and most importantly themselves. We also educate and lead our students toward the "creation" of a more profitable future. We do this by "bringing to their awareness" the self-limiting beliefs and behaviors that have restricted them for so long. The values that we emphasize to our students are accountability, integrity, befriending oneself and others, service, equanimity, and serenity. We help families and young adults from Rhode Island as well as from all over the U.S.
Our outstanding team includes two Ivy-League-educated physicians, a licensed psychologist, a licensed independent substance abuse counselor, a licensed professional counselor, two meditation instructors, a music teacher, a yoga instructor, and an equine professional. Simply put, our team of staff presents a personal growth adventure unlike anything presented elsewhere. We stand by our motto: "Heal the Past, Love the Present, and Create your Future." Red Mountain Sedona picks up where other primary treatment left off!
Ideal Atmosphere For Learning Life Skills
Red Mountain Sedona provides a sanctuary from the adversarial influences that typically plague a struggling young adult prior to joining our program. Partially because we are located within the majestic views of Sedona Arizona, Red Mountain Sedona has developed a reputation in Rhode Island as one of the premiere personal growth programs in America. Our campus is literally steps from bike trails, coffee shops, restaurants, as well as the breathtaking Bell Rock Trail. It's not surprising that people travel from all over the world to enjoy Sedona’s healing atmosphere and beautiful views. What better place to develop habits of sobriety than in the most gorgeous place in the country?
While learning transformational meditation techniques, 12-step recovery skills, and life skills, our students stay in beautifully appointed apartments, where they have 24/7 access to our staff. Red Mountain Sedona helps our students to “wake up” to their basic goodness, centering on gratitude, solutions, and the development of a personal roadmap that will guide them toward a clearer future.
Help For Young Adults From Rhode Island
Red Mountain Sedona students occasionally come from home. However, it's more common for us to admit newcomers from wilderness or primary treatment programs. Our students average stay period is typically 6-9 months. Their first 1-2 months are what we refer to as the “immersion” phase, where they have 24-hour supervision and scheduled events all day. Subsequently, our students go into “transition” for the next 3-4 months and stay busy with work and/or school. students will keep the program schedule in this transition phase when not at work or school. Finally, the students experience an “independent living” phase for the remaining 1-2 months, to test their skills with very little oversight.
We facilitate change in a student’s life by not only trying to understand what drives them, but also by getting "people of influence" to help (parents, friends, peers). We know that by enabling them to look at the big picture of their lives, and how their present behavior influences their long-term goals, they will update those schemas with a new behavior. Ultimately, the vision that we have for every one of our students is not only that this will be their "last program," but that they will be fully independent when leaving, that they will have the support they need to remain sober, and that they will experience a joyful and productive life after their time here.
