Life Skills Training for Young Adults From Anchorage, AK
Red Mountain Sedona is a therapeutic Life Skills Training Aftercare Program offering essential and healing therapy for young adults from Anchorage, AK. We know from our background and years of practice that proper life skills are crucial for continual sobriety. We see many programs in the Anchorage, AK area who do not adequately provide for dependent young adults in this critical stage.
The philosophy of Red Mountain Sedona (RMS) is simply, a "mindful" and healthy life is more peaceful and agreeable than a life of habitual behavior with internal strife. Because of this belief of ours, we aim to support the development of crucial life skills that will conceivably come to play a positive and continual part in the futures of our students.
Here at RMS, we teach our students to not only cook, clean, and take care of their physical health through nutrition and exercise, but also how to balance checkbooks, apply for and interview for jobs, as well as other aspects of behavior and etiquettes required for a successful adult life.
Top Young Adult Aftercare Program
Here at RMS, we encourage our students to rebuild and maintain any damaged relationships with family, loved ones, and most importantly themselves, through our healing aftercare treatment. The professional staff here at RMS promotes healing from grief, loss, trauma, and harmful remnants of the past caused by poor decision-making. We do this by "guiding" our students through the "creation" of a more beneficial future. This process is based on them learning how to "reject" the self-limiting beliefs and behaviors that have crippled them up to this point.
RMS's team of staff presents a personal growth experience, unlike anything offered in the Anchorage, AK area, for struggling young adults. Simply put, we pick up where primary treatment leaves off! Our professional team of therapists and counselors, here at RMS, includes two Ivy-League-educated physicians, two meditation instructors, a licensed independent substance abuse counselor, a licensed psychologist, a yoga instructor, a licensed professional counselor, a music teacher, and an equine professional.

Red Mountain Sedona's Aftercare Programs
Our students enjoy personal mentoring from our core staff, who personally have over 35 years of recovery experience dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, food addiction, alcohol and substance abuse, codependency, and process addictions. This mentoring and instruction is delivered through our specialized programs:
Meditation - 12-step literature encourages daily meditation and reflection, which has been proven to reduce stress, cravings, and positively affects brain chemistry (Zen and the Brain, by Dr. James H. Austin, a book written by a medical doctor studying the effects of meditation on the brain). Many recovery applications teach weekly meditation as a supplement to other programming, which we feel is inadequate. We believe daily meditation practice is needed in order to teach addicts how to track their cravings and reduce the risks of relapse.
Yoga - We teach Yoga for a variety of reasons, but primarily because it has long been seen as a key component of physical and mental well-being. Yoga promotes physical health, reduced stress, and a sense of inner peace.
T'ai Chi - Here at Red Mountain Sedona, we deliberately emphasize the “soft” martial arts such as Aikido, T’ai Chi, and Qigong. They are all nonviolent in nature and use positive energy to calm the nervous system and build confidence.
Equine Therapy - Our Equine Therapy program incorporates horses experientially for emotional growth and learning. It is a collaborative effort between a trained equine therapist and the young adult client to address treatment goals. Equine therapy helps young adults become more aware of their emotions, and how their behavior affects others.
Adventure Therapy - We incorporate adventure therapy as another specialized field that utilizes outdoor adventure activities to promote interpersonal, social and psychological wellness and change. Adventure therapy encourages individuals to become mentally and physically engaged in adventure activities such as ropes courses, rock climbing, wilderness expeditions, and trust building activities.
Nutrition - At our program, we serve gourmet meals using many fresh and local ingredients. Many studies have shown that nutrition is a key part of supporting the “addict brain” and staying sober. We teach our students how to "eat right" for the rest of their lives. All meal plans are individually customized by our certified nutrition coach.

Anchorage, AK, Daily Quotes To Live By: "Many scientists think that philosophy has no place, so for me it's a sad time because the role of reflection, contemplation, meditation, self inquiry, insight, intuition, imagination, creativity, free will, is in a way not given any importance, which is the domain of philosophers." Deepak Chopra
"Some people have a mistaken idea that all thoughts disappear through meditation and we enter a state of blankness. There certainly are times of great tranquility when concentration is strong and we have few, if any, thoughts. But other times, we can be flooded with memories, plans or random thinking. It's important not to blame yourself." Sharon Salzberg
