    Primary Therapist

Wes holds a Master’s degree in Contemplative Psychology from Naropa University. There he studied both Western and Eastern approaches to psychology with a strong emphasis on cultivating mindfulness and compassion along with learning many leading-edge Western techniques of psychotherapy.  His clinical approach draws on mindfulness principles which have been shown effective in the fields of psychology and neuroscience after many scientific studies validating their effectiveness in helping people cultivate good mental health.

Wes joined Red Mountain in the early days when the program was just getting started, and after a foray to California was very excited to return to our team. He is passionate about self-improvement, recovery and the healing process. “It’s rewarding to watch students go through transformations in this program,” Wes says.  “I truly believe we are doing something unique and special here. Red Mountain provides a compassionate and effective container for young people to develop tools and cultivate their own compassion and wisdom to help them learn, grow, heal, and achieve their goals. I’m honored to get to be a part of that process.”

Wes also has specialized training in somatic based trauma therapy Containment and Resolution (CAR), Hakomi, Gestalt, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Satir Family Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, and Professional Coaching. Wes has worked with individuals, groups, couples, families, children and young adults, and enjoys engaging with all the family members in every Red Mountain student’s family system.

In his free time, Wes likes to spend time with family and friends, hike with his dog, camp, travel, read, write, meditate, listen to podcasts, and both watch and produce movies and shows.  Wes has a background in filmmaking and has worked on and off in the entertainment industry for over two decades. He also enjoys skateboarding, snowboarding, golf, basketball and riding mountain bikes.
